Youth Ministry
As with all ministries in Murrieta Valley Church, the youth ministry exists primarily to glorify God. The motto of the youth ministry is, "So whether you eat or drink or whatever you do, do it all for the glory of God." (I Corinthians 10:31). The goal of the ministry is to shape maturing teens into young adults who love and worship Jesus Christ, by providing contexts for them to experience, apply, and proclaim the glorious gospel.
To facilitate the training of the youth, parents are equipped to effectively disciple their teens, with the help of the church community. Rather than parents abdicating their role to the youth pastor, parents are encouraged to be heavily involved in all youth activities and to be the primary means of grace in their children's lives.
The format/structure of the youth ministry consists of mid-week and weekend meetings, regular recreational activities, and several service days throughout the year. The mid-week meetings provide an opportunity for the youth to take an active role through prayer, worship, service, testimonies, etc. It is also used as a platform for teaching about biblical expectations for young adults and teen/parent relationships. The teachings are often discussed and applied through biblical fellowship at the small group meetings, which meet in homes where every member is expected to participate. The recreational and service activities provide additional opportunities for fellowship and relational development.
With strong parental involvement, under the direction of effective biblical leadership, we have seen God's faithfulness in revealing Himself to many of the youth, as they have recognized their need for the Savior. The fruit has been abundant as we've seen many of the youth assume their place as vital members of the church community, serving alongside the adults. The youth are seeing Murrieta Valley Church as their own church, not simply one they attend with their parents.
Children's Ministry
The Bible is clear that the call of Christian parents is to train and teach their children the gospel. We eagerly desire as a church to support parents in this effort. Although teaching and training children in the gospel is the greatest challenge and task parents have been given, God has provided many promises and reasons for faith in the process. God has also provided the local church to train parents and to join with them in this responsibility. Several ministries exist in our church to help Moms and Dads fulfill their calling.
Sunday morning children's ministry
Our goal is to provide an environment that is safe and fun, but with the gospel as the defining emphasis of everything we do during these hours. We seek to do much more than simply provide childcare while parents attend the Sunday meeting. Here's what we provide to serve you on a Sunday morning:
- Nursery
The nursery is designed specifically soinfants can play here and sleep in cribs in a clean and safe environment. The room features comfortable seating, a video hookup to view the main meeting, changing tables, high chairs, a place for Moms to freshen up, snacks, and information on child development. The room is staffed with caring, experienced Moms who are available to help and eager to do so. - Children's Church at 10:45 a.m. for 3 yrs. olds through 5 yrs. old
A more structured environment of play, crafts, drama, and teaching occurs here. Although we recognize attention spans are short at this age, we seek to impart the truths of the gospel in ways these young minds can understand. As our last step to prepare children to join their parents in the adult meeting, we seek to help children to follow teaching more closely at this age. Although we have many fun activities and drama, there are also focused worship times, teaching times, and small group discussion with adult leaders. We want our kids to know that talking about God and the Bible with others is a wonderful thing to do now while they're still young!
