  1. Have you ever been hurt by someone and feel like you need vindication? Vengeance?
  2. Why are we so often tempted to fret over the successes and prosperity of evildoers?
  3. Find examples in the Bible of people who were treated unjustly? Were they ever vindicated?

Excerpt 2: Befriend Faithfulness

  1. What is it like to be filled with so much anxiety that your life becomes paralyzed and you stop functioning normally?
  2. How is fretfulness and unfaithfulness related?
  3. What do you think David means when he says, “befriend faithfulness”? How can this be applied to your life?
  4. Pray for someone that you know that has become unfaithful to church.

Excerpt 3: Delight in the Lord

  1. List the top ten desires of you heart? Then examine them and categorize them. What have you learned about yourself?
  2. Have you ever been vindicated and found that it wasn’t as completely satisfying as you had hoped?
  3. What is that one thing, that if you lost it, your life would fall apart (you would lose your joy)?
  4. Seek God with all your heart today, and this week, until you are delighting in Him.

Excerpt 4: Commit Your Way to the Lord

  1. In what ways have you seen God act in the midst of your tribulations and adversity? Give Him praise!
  2. How have you found Christianity to be a life-transforming power in your life rather than merely a religion?
  3. What does Psalm 37:5 mean when it says, “Commit your way to the Lord”? What does that look like in practical terms? Is it more about what you do or who you are as a person? If both, explain to what degree.
  4. Look up other passes of Scripture that command us to commit our way to the Lord. What do you learn from these passages?
  5. God promises to vindicate us in Psalm 37:6. In what ways might He do that?
