MVC Adults

The MVC Center for Biblical Studies

is designed to provide comprehensive theological training and practical leadership training for those Christians who wish to diligently study God’s Word and sufficiently be trained for His service.

Our Young Adult Ministry

Exists to provide continued discipleship and personal accountability of college and career aged young adults who too often fall into the trap of an isolated and individualistic Christianity. Our goal in this ministry is to bring the Christian into fuller maturity by developing a comprehensive biblical worldview, establishing a deeper understanding of the Scriptures, promoting a personal and corporate holiness, and providing a setting for carrying out the one-another commands of Scripture.

Once a week we gather for a time of fellowship and Bible study, which is our primary means of continuing this lifelong discipleship process. We meet every Sunday evening and for information concerning where we meet contact Sean, or if you have any other questions.

Our Men’s Ministry

pursues the mission of MVC for men to be freed and transformed by the power of the gospel so they may treasure Christ above all things. We are committed to helping men seek to glorify God in all aspects of their lives. There are continuous Bible studies, fellowships, and opportunities of service so that the men of MVC can learn, grow and live out the gospel in their personal lives, home life, society and culture. We are dedicated to awaken and equip men to grow in these guiding values:

  • Devotion to God: Knowing, loving, and obeying God in all things, as well as enjoying God, which results in praise and worship.
  • Taking Initiative: Real manhood begins with a decision to reject spiritual and social passivity.
  • Accepting Responsibility: Men have a God-given, unique calling to accept responsibility (Genesis 3:9). It is not a right or a burden, but a duty given by God. Authentic manhood revolves around three primary responsibilities (and a wise father will train his son to embrace these with enthusiasm): a will to obey God’s Word, a work to do (not just his job, but also the work of his home, church, and community), and a woman to love (his wife).
  • Leading Courageously: Leading with truth rather than surrendering to feelings always separates the men from the boys. Godly leadership is: servant leadership (Luke 22:26; Ephesians 5:23, 25; Matthew 7:12), not authoritarian or self-aggrandizing , not patronizing or condescending (not presuming superiority, but mobilizes the strengths of others, and courageous leadership. It steps out to lead when it’s not easy to do so.
  • Adopting an Eternal Perspective: Is life simply a matter of miserable, hard work? No joy? No happiness? Is this life simply a long up-hill climb with the burden of responsibility, sacrifice, duty, protection, and leadership? The call to biblical manhood was never intended to be burdensome! (See 1 John 5:3; Hebrews 12:1-2.) Let us anticipate the joy of a great reward (Hebrews 11:24-26; 1 Corinthians 2:9; 1 Timothy 4:8; 6:6). This principle speaks to the concept of delayed gratification; staying the course set forth in God’s Word with faith. He will be the joy and fulfillment, rather than the immediate pleasures offered day-to-day by the culture.

Our Women’s Ministries

exists to equip and assist women in applying biblical principles to their lives. We strive to provide training, encouragement, fellowship, and service opportunities for women so that they can live lives pleasing to God. Our goal is that every woman in the church know Christ personally and be committed to extending His Kingdom in her life, home, church, community, and throughout the world. Our ministry opportunities include Bible Studies, prayer groups, fellowships, small groups, community services, and conferences.

  • Get Connected Immediately: Every woman at MVC is involved in a monthly Titus 2 mentoring group that helps develop a biblical worldview for women. MVC intentionally equips women to understand and apply the biblical principles of womanhood in all of life, to pass on the Gospel so that others will treasure Jesus Christ and become established in their faith, to mentor/disciple younger women by teaching and exemplifying to the next generation the biblical principles of womanhood, to enfold women who are not involved in women’s ministries/events of the church, to give opportunity for female relationships among the women of MVC, and to strengthen women in their love for and service to the church.

On Our Pastors' Minds

The Need for a Practical Apologetic

It is the job of apologetics to refute such opposition and to demonstrate the truth of the Christian proclamation and worldview - to "cast down reasonings and every high thing that is exalted against the knowledge of God" (2 Corinthians 10:5). However, apologetics must not be cooped up in the classroom and academy. It must be taken out into the world of daily life...taken to the streets. Christians waste their time if they interact only with academic and hypothetical critics, but not with the man-on-the-street in the flesh. In fact, the majority of interactions we have will be informal and casual encounters with those in need of the gospel.

Joining a Church the Ancient Way: From Clement to Egeria

How did a person join a congregation in the earliest days of Christianity? From one perspective, the question is easy to answer. Simply put, believer’s baptism was the church’s rite of entry down to the early fourth century. But—and no surprise here—there was more to it than that.
